Our Services and How We Worship
Join us on Sunday morning at 10:30 AM in our light-filled sanctuary for a service of singing, praying, reading, and reflecting, or click here to learn more about how we worship. Dress however you are most comfortable – lots of us prefer casual attire. You may expect to hear spirit-filled music, spontaneous sharing of both joys and concerns, and messages that you can relate to your daily life. A staffed nursery is available for little ones under age five. Our sanctuary, fellowship areas, and restrooms are easily accessible for those with mobility challenges.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month. All are welcome to partake in the sacraments. Those who participate may choose between wine and non-alcoholic grape juice, and gluten-free wafers are provided in addition to bread.

On the second Sunday of each month, our service includes a time of peaceful meditation during which those who wish to share personal concerns with the pastor may come forward for anointing and Healing Prayer.

Following the service at about 11:40 AM, there is a time of fellowship, coffee, and refreshments in our Fireside Room. Our members love to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries!

What's Trending Right Now at Spring Creek Church

Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 3 will take place at 11:45 AM immediately following the church service. Important business and installation of incoming Council members will be conducted. All members are encouraged to attend and exercise your voting rights.

Rockford Pride Fest on June 9, 2012... Spring Creek UCC is a sponsoring partner of Rockford's first annual Pride Fest 2012! Volunteer opportunities are available to help staff our information booth during the festival. SCUCC organizers may be contacted via our church office, or read more on the event website. Pork Chop Sale pig with sign Pork Chop Sandwich Sale
Saturday, June 16!
Our Heavenly Pork Chops will once again be sold all day, hot and tasty right off the grill, with drive-thru service in our parking lot. Coordinator Duane Phillips is needing help with the planning, publicity, set up and chop sales. There's a perfect job to fit every volunteer, it's fun, and you can earn a FREE sandwich or two for your efforts. Don't wait...the best jobs get snapped up fast!

Scenic Shore logoTeam Agony of Da Seat rides again on July 21-22 to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. You don't have to be a hard core cyclist to join the team and enjoy the 150-mile ride along Lake Michigan from Mequon to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. For more details go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Registration site (click Register on the menu at top of page) or contact team coordinator Jeff Makulec.

Scenic Shore bikersTax-deductible registration fee is $85 through May 18, after which it increases to $125. All riders must raise at least $300, which Jeff assures us is pretty easy to do. New this year is an option to ride just the second day for those who can't fit in a two-day ride. And returning this year is the Virtual Rider (free registration) for those who promise to raise at least $300 but aren't inclined to do their own pedaling.

Spring Creek Book Club resumes in May on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:00 pm. On May 2, Angela's Ashes (author Frank McCourt) will be reviewed. For more information, call our church office to get in touch with the club's coordinator.

Speaking Christian... This learning event meets every Sunday at 9:30 AM. Led by Bob Black, one of our Lay Worship Leaders, the group is discussing Speaking Christian by author Marcus Borg. Contact the church office if you would like to order your own copy of the book. Lively and thought-provoking dialogue is guaranteed!

Adopt-A-Garden Bed signup is posted on the bulletin board at church. There are a few beds left to adopt, plus plenty of other chores suitable for almost anyone, regardless of gardening ability (even if you can't keep dandelions alive). If you can pull weeds and/or use a garden hose, there is a job for you. Help us keep our gardens and grounds beautiful this summer. Read more and view the garden chart...

Box full of rummage items

Annual Fall SCCRummage Sale... Mark your calendar for September 20-22. It's not too early to begin identifying unwanted clothing, household items, and any gadget or doodad that could be a treasure in someone else's eyes. This annual sale is one of our major fundraisers, and we will need plenty of gently used merchandise to make it a success. Contact coordinator Deb Phillips for more information.
